Thunder...

Here are WilyKit and WilyKat, the obligatory kid characters that were supposed to make us as children relate to the Thundercats team.  However even as a child I found these two grating and obnoxious.  WilyKit with her Bride-of-Frankenstein hair and WilyKat with his Civil War-era sideburns didn't connect with me at all.  I just wanted to lock them and Snarf in a kennel together with no food and see who resorted to cannibalism first.  I was much more interested in being Lion-O or Tygra in those days.  That said, I really enjoyed re-designing them.  Maybe they're not so horrible after all.

Thunder...

And here is Cheetara.  More to come in the very near future.  Check back this week for more of the team!

Thunder...

It's a good thing Panthro had those suspenders to keep his bikini bottoms up.  And the spikes reminded you that he was tough...or possibly the first cartoon leather daddy.  Keep a close eye on this space over the next week as the rest of the team shows up!

Phat Status XX

Holy moly, has it really been 8 months since my last Phat Status update?  I could trot out any number of excuses for the drop-off, but the reality is that the well just ran dry for a bit, so I've been devoting time to pretty, less emotionally complicated artistic pursuits (which you can buy here, btw).  But the interim has allowed me time to develop new phobias, insecurities, and self-doubts, and thus ideas for at least a few new comics to come.  Enjoy!

Jungle Boy

Leave it to a dope like me to deliver a birthday gift over 5 months late.  This painting was to commemorate the day my friend Ashley burst forth from her mother's womb, but alas it wasn't as timely as it could have been.  But she certainly seemed to like it, so I guess better late than never.

The slab of manly muscle depicted here is none other than Jackass's own Party Boy, Chris Pontius, who also serves as Ashley's celebrity crush.  I mentioned the idea to her husband a few months back, and he thought it would be a great idea.  In fact, it was he who suggested I make him riding a tiger.

Movie Mania!

Hello friendly friends!  I've been a busy bee over the last couple months, despite what this barren, neglected blog site may indicate.  Been doing lots of books and posters.  In particular, this collection of movie-themed images I've been illustrating just for the fun of it.  Sadly, I have no new Phat Status comics to share at this time, (because I'm just not phat enough), but I have a few ideas in the pipeline.  And it is my New Year's resolution to share with you more content and keep this art blog from flat-lining.  Also, if you are interested in obtaining prints of any of my work, you can write me at tightywhiteart@gmail.com or visit my website: tightywhitesartsite.com

Character Cavalcade

It appears my corner of the blogosphere has been overrun by Phat Status comics for the last several months.  And while I'm more than happy to continue barfing those out, I think it's time for some balance.  After all, this is still primarily an art site.  First is my rather Barney Fife-ish take on He-Man and his baffled battle cat, Cringer looking on.  The others, a warrior elf and an ogre, are original characters that I created just for the heck of it.  Enjoy!
